It is actually OK to follow @SheikahMemories |
The basic idea is to create a feed of interesting Breath of the Wild screenshots and commentary, so you can enjoy the community experience of the game through the sharing of others. I may be tweaking its behavior going forward.
A few restrictions I put in place:
- It will only retweet tweets that have the #BreathoftheWild hashtag. If you don't include the hashtag, my bot will not see it.
- It will only retweet tweets sent from the Nintendo Switch Share feature or from the Wii U. I love seeing all of the fan art and cosplay photos, but it's difficult to filter out some of the junk.
- It will only retweet tweets that are in English.
- If there is interest in a version of this bot in a different language (or set of languages), I could whip that up pretty quickly.
- It will only retweet tweets that have additional text beyond the #BreathoftheWild and #NintendoSwitch hashtags. Say something. Make it interesting.
- I did this mostly as a quality filter, and to keep the quantity of retweets down, and increase the quality of retweeted tweets.
- Occasionally (such as when BOTW wins Game of the Year and the DLC drops at the same time), the volume of tweets is too much, and @SheikahMemories hits its API rate limit. When this happens, I will slow it down and only retweet a percentage of qualifying tweets.
- If you want to bypass this, you can follow the account. It refreshes its followers list every half hour or so, and if it knows you follow it, it will retweet you regardless of the throttling.
